Description

A decadent breakfast dish featuring buttery brioche soaked in a rich custard, cooked to golden perfection and topped with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh berries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of brioche bread (¾ to 1 inch thick)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of whole milk
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter (for frying)
  • For serving: powdered sugar, fresh berries (optional), whipped cream (optional), maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Slice the brioche into ¾ to 1 inch thick pieces; let them sit out for about 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. Soak each slice of brioche in the custard mixture for 30–40 seconds on each side.
  4. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt the unsalted butter.
  5. Add the soaked brioche slices to the hot pan and cook for about 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar, and topped with fresh berries, whipped cream, and maple syrup.

Notes

Consider using healthier alternatives like whole grain bread or dairy-free substitutes for a lighter option.
